     The Shivir was over on 01 Apr 2019 and we all the participants numbering over 110 returned to our routines back home. It was a very well conducted and organised Shivir.     One now knows how big Patanjali is not only in its layout but the SOCIAL work it has taken on.
We will now look FORWARD to  the next shivir.
    Thanks to Col RS Gaba, Capt Dr Deepak Sanan, Ms Kumud Gaba and not forgetting Ms Kanti Negi. for the lovely and illuminating time we all had..

    Last day at Yoga Class we got Yog Sandesh Magazine, glancing through the contents today,  I found excellent articles in it's contents. As veterans for most of us The Health is the only consideration during our twilight years.

    Each issue costs Rs 15. and yearly subscription is Rs 150. It's published in many languages.
       Col RS Gaba , Vice President of VDFG whom we know now as a dedicated and  loveable veteran, has asked me to convey that his Co will sponsor half the cost provided min of 20 subscriptions are made through VDFG, the magazines (bundle of 20) will get delivered to  one nominated  address for local  distr  among themselves.
    Hence Rs 1500 @ RS 75 per sub for 12 issues, be remitted with name and address of the nominated recipient.

Though, I had been practicing prayanam and asans over couple of years but were totally unaware of the the kind of sea changes it can bring to the lives of human being. Why Pranayam + Meditation are  necessary from the Medical Science's point of view ?

From the time of the  birth till death the heart works continuously. Everyday the heart pumps 7000 litres of blood, of which 70% blood is pumped to the Brain and the remaining 30%  to the rest of body.

How does the heart work so efficiently and effectively ?

Heart works effectively because it follows a discipline. In normal conditions the heart takes 0.3 secs to contract (systole) and 0.5 secs to relax (diastole).
So 0.3+0.5=0.8 secs are required by the heart to complete one beat (1 cardiac cycle).
That means in 1 min, the heart beats 72 times which is considered as normal heart beat.

During the relaxing phase of 0.5 secs the impure blood travels through the lungs and becomes 100 % pure.

In some stressful conditions , the body demands more blood in less time and in this situation the heart reduces the relaxing period of 0.5 secs to 0.4 secs...Thus in this case the heart beats 82 times in 1min and only 80% of blood gets purified.

On more and more demand the relaxing time is further reduced to 0.3 secs & then only 60% of blood is purified.
Imagine the consequences of the lesser Oxygenated blood circulating in our Arteries !

Deep Breathing ,  is the key to ensure better Oxygenation of the blood.

Factors responsible for the activity of the brain :

1.  25-30% is due to the Diet we consume.

 2. 70-75% is due to the emotions, attitude, memories and other processes of the brain.

Thus, to calm the brain and reduce the demand on the heart to pump more and more blood , brain needs to be given a rest.

Meditation is the most useful tool to calm an agitated mind.

When we sit with eyes closed and meditate , the brain gets calmer,  heart gets rested,  thus insulating us from the Diseases of Heart & Brain.

PRANAYAM + MEDITATION IS THE KEY TO THE REAL HEALING...

नीम से जुड़े दमदार नुस्खे

1- चेहरे से दाग धब्बे दूर रहेंगे : नीम की पत्तियों को पानी में 1-2 घंटे उबालकर ठंडा कर ले और इस पानी से चेहरा धोएं | नीम की पत्तियों का एंटीबैक्टिरियल गुण स्किन साफ़ करता है |
2- स्किन प्रॉब्लम में राहत : नीम में निम्बीडॉल और गेडुनिन नामक मेडिसिनल कम्पाउंड होते है जो स्किन प्रॉब्लमस से आराम दिलाते है | पत्तियों को पीस कर लगाये |

9- पेट की तकलीफ : पेट की तकलीफ (अमीबियासिस) होने पर नीम का एंटीबायोटिक गुण फायदा करता है नीम की पत्तियों और हल्दी का पाउडर सरसों के तेल में मिलाकर पेट पर लगाए |

Since we are going there for rejuvenating of body, mind and spirit it will be beneficial if you come with positivity, focus and smile on your face.
You are requested to observe some important Do and Dont's during the shivir :-

1. Please bring a canvas or bed sheet for yoga (mattress will be available there).
2. You should be dressed comfortably relatively kurta pajama /Salwar kameej / tracksuit etc (please prefer wearing light colour dresses)
3. It is advisable to carry prescribed medicine along with latest medical reports.
4. Non veg, alcohol, pan masala, smoking and other malicious things are strictly prohibited in the premises.
5. Use of poly-bags are prohibited inside the premises
6. Practicing barefoot is recommended.
7. Practicing on a light stomach is recommended.
8. Practicing spiritual silence is a therapy and everyone should enjoy therapy during the yoga session.
9. Consuming energy in talks and gossips can strain you while exercise.
10. Cell phones should be switched off during yoga session.
11. Outside food should be avoided there.
12. The temperature will be little less than Delhi, So take the clothing according to your needs.

“INTERNATIONAL CONF ON YOGA FOR HEALTH AND THERAPY” AT AYURVEDA BHAWAN  PATANJALI YOG PEETH (PYP) – PHASE-I, HARIDWAR, INDIA - MARCH 29-31,2019

Veteran Defence Forces Group (VDFG), an organization of retired veterans of armed forces personnel is involved in providing low cost and high quality housing facilities to personnel of the armed forces and para military forces for the more than three decades. As part of Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) VDFG is actively involved in promotion of ‘Yog’, ‘Ayurved’ and ‘Swadeshi’ as advocated by PYP. The organisation has been conducting training programmes in the form of ‘Yog Shivirs’ (camps) at various intervals, basically in the Defence formations, units, organisations located in NCR in the last few years.

Patanjali research foundation is holding a three days “International Conference on  Yoga for Health and Therapy” at Ayurveda Bhawan, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Phase-I, Haridwar, India. from 29th to 31st March 2019. This is the first of its type “International Conference on Yoga for health and therapy” to address the benefits of yoga and value of its application to improve our daily life, manage disease & help promote positive health. Speakers from academically renowned institutions such as All India Institute of Medical Science(New Delhi, India), the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience Bengaluru, India)Harvard Medical School (Boston, U.S.A)and Brazil will be invited to give oral presentations on yoga and its applications.
VDFG now invites serving as well as retired officers from the services and para-military
organisations to participate in the 3 days conference as well as undergo training in Yog Asanas
during their stay at Haridwar. While the conference is taking place in phase-I of Patanjali Yog
Peeth(PYP), accommodation and training in yog Aasans, Pranayam etc will take place in Phase II of PYP.
Fee for accommodation, meals, training and participation in the conference is Rs.4500/-per person (http://www.patanjaliresearchfoundation.com) and for officers desirous of coming with lady wives the fee will be Rs.6500/- per couple. However VDFG is entirely sponsoring the officers from their own resources  and  hence  Rs  4500/-  shall  be refunded  to  the  officers  on  reaching  PYP on  28th   March 2019.  This amount of Rs.6500/- / Rs.4500/-may be sent to us by cheque, draft or NEFT as per attached Registration form.
All officers desirous of participating in this “International Conference on Yoga for Health and

Therapy” are required to confirm their participation to VDFG, latest by 10th Feb 2019 as the seats are limited.
Participants are required to reach PYP’s  Ayurveda Bhawan, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Phase-I, Haridwar, India. on Roorkee-Haridwar Road by afternoon of 28th March 2019 under their own arrangements. Likewise return will also be the responsibility of participating officers. However, VDFG will organize buses from central pick up points, DSOI, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi and Arun Vihar  Community Center, Noida, if sufficient number of officers desire to travel by deluxe bus by paying actual charges. (Rs.1300/- for onward & return journey) These buses shall depart at 0900 Hrs on 28th March 2019for Haridwar and likewise depart from Haridwar at 0900 Hrs on 01st April 2019.

➔      Your drivers, helpers etc. maybe accommodated at “Valmiki Ashram” adjacent to PYP without any extra cost.
