If one sees the meanings of Certa and Cito in various Latin to English dictionaries available on the internet, one will realise that Swift and Sure is the most correct translation of the phrase.

In my opinion TEEVRA CHAUKAS does not seem to be a correct equivalent of Swift and Sure. The sanskrit word Teevra is used with following meanings: 1. Intense, as in intense pain (Teevra Vedana); 2. Sharp. 3. Acute.

As regards Chaukas, most dictionaries define it as Alert, observant, vigilant etc. Only dictionary defines it as tightened from all four sides.

Thus, Teevra Chaukas come nowhere close to the original meaning of Certa Cito. Some other closer combinations could be Tvarit aur Vishwasaneeya; Sheeghra aur dridh; Turant aur Durust etc. Other veterans may be able to suggest even better combinations.

  3. My query is similar to one raised by Brig.Cariappa. How to incorporate corrections in the veterans directory? Also, is it not possible to incorporate search function to the directory?

  4. Dear Brigadier,
You & your team of experts have done a brilliant job in the fiscal interests of retired Defence Personnel.Your guidance has been a silent,self-less yeoman service which,in all fairness needs to be rewarded.I am not sure how individual beneficiaries can best 'reward' you..but lets make a start.I am an Armd Corps retiree of 29th NDA batch.Have been reasonably prudent & am intelligent in worldly affairs.Have invested well,by chance, but remain ignorant on the more serious mathematical issues.Took my Pension remittances for granted till your magical Dues_Drawn Statement got me thinking. The consolidation of past pension data therein ,showed a deficit of about Rs.6 lacs.As intimated separately (vide my e mails to you of 9.12.17 & earlier),after regular prodding,my PDA (BOI) remitted about Rs.2 lacs last week towards these 'hidden' dues, without any further elaboration! This is being questioned again by me.
However, the point is,simply this:As normal, diligent soldiers,we,normally, have not developed the mathematical genius required to question the guiles of the Cost Accountants & CAs.My tabulations & calculation in my Dues_Drawn Statement may well be off target.Indeed your synopsis on What may be our actual entitlements in r/o OROP/6CPC/PMR/7CPC,etc.,suggests that I may well be off target by a significant amount.I retired after 25 years,5 days Service.Lt Col Zulu's chart shows arrears of over Rs.8 lacs against my figures for about Rs.6 lacs. Can the tabulation for a Lt Col with 25 years Service,DOB 17.11.45 be done too, please?I am willing to pay/remit whatever is deemed fit to any charity of your choosing..instead of leaving my hard-earned DUES to the coffers of these darn institutions. Please do revert on the e mail from 'colhp@ rediffmail.com'.Warm Regards.

  5. Sir,Consequent to my Complaint,PCDA(P) Accounts instructed BOI CPPC Nagpur vide letter of 10.11.17 to release my service pension as per stipulations of Circular Nos 568,555 & 570 plus the applicable DR.The PDA then remitted an amount of Rs.356783.00 less TDS in mid-Dec 17 into my account, without any comment/elaboration/details.My Dues_Drawn Statement showed arrears of about Rs.06 Lacs, without the 8% pa interest due since 2006.How do I now get the proper clarification about my actual dues. The Bank Manager is helpful, but, gets no response from his superiors.PCDA(P) Allahabad also merely states that no further communication is required, and, that the pensioner must liase with the CPPC!Is there any Army HQ authority which is supposed to ensure that Defence Pensioners get their rightful dues (on Complaints) without such hastles? The Ex-Servicemen pension-portal also sings the same tune as the PCDA(P),and, seems little more than a figure-head establishment.
