Republic Day 2018 in India was celebrated on 26th of January, Friday. In 2018, India celebrated its 69th Republic Day.

As a symbolic gesture, the Indian government invites a chief guest to attend official Republic Day celebrations in Delhi.
The guest is always a head of state or government from a country that's selected based on strategic, economic and political interests.
The inaugural chief guest, in 1950, was Indonesian President Sukarno.
In 2018, the leaders of all 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries will be chief guests at the Republic Day Parade. This
includes Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. It will be the first time that so many heads of government and state will attend the parade together. In addition, there have only been two Republic Day parades in the past (in 1968 and 1974) that have had more than one chief guest.
ASEAN is central to India's Act East Policy, and both Singapore and Vietnam are important pillars of it.
The chief guests would be Sultan and incumbent Prime Minister Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei , Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia , President Joko Widodo of Indonesia , Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos , Prime Minister Najib Razak of Malaysia , President Htin Kyaw of Myanmar , President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of Philippines , President Halimah Yacob of  Singapore , Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha of Thailand , and Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc of Vietnam.
It is very special because the Southeast Asian bloc completed its 50 years of formation (created on 8 August 1967) and India completed its 25 years of partnership (started in 1992) with the grouping in 2017.
As Independence Day in India is celebrated to enjoy the freedom of India from the British Rule, Republic Day in India is celebrated to commemorate the coming of its own constitution into force. Officially it is celebrated every year in the national capital of India (New Delhi) at the Rajpath in the presence of the President of India. Mini celebrations are also take place in the state capitals in the presence of the governor of the state by spreading out the National Flag of the country.
January 26 is declared as the gazetted holiday all over the country by the Government of India. It is celebrated throughout the India with great enthusiasm by the students and teachers in the schools, colleges, universities and other educational institution.
An excellent parade and salute event is held by the military team at the Rajpath in front of the India Gate in the New Delhi, India.
Some other appearances who will be seen for first time would be Indigenously-developed weapon system integrated helicopter Rudra . The flypast by the Indian Air Force on the Republic Day parade will involve 38 aircraft, including 21 fighters, 12 helicopters and five transporters.
The Ensign formation of the flypast will include a Mi-17 V5 helicopter carrying the ASEAN flag to commemorate the summit meeting of India and the block of South East Asian countries to be held here on January 19-30.
Other formations will involve C-130 J, AEW&C aircraft escorted by two Sukhoi-30 MKI, Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, Jaguar, MiG 29 Upgrade aircraft.
The IAF tableau will be themed on "Indian Air Force encouraging indigenisation", while the tri-service tableau will be themed on "veterans are asset to the nation'.
A special tribute will be paid to the Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh who passed away in September last year with a tune "Great Marshal" employing African drum
Also BSF trained 113 women bikers will be riding on 26 350 CC Royal Enfield motorcycles to perform acrobatics and daredevil stunts at this Republic Day parade . As per the tradition, the BSF and the Army's bike-borne daredevils, alternatively every year, end the parade riding their roaring motorcycles.
This time it was the BSF's turn and they have sent in their women contingents to showcase "Pyramid", "Fish Riding", "Shaktiman", "Bull Fighting", "Seema Prahari" and other stun
