FILING OF REVISED RETURNS OF EARLIER YEAR (FIN YEAR 2015-16)
In continuation of our endeavour in guiding and helping veterans through our web posts on Filing of
Income Tax Returns and claiming rebate on the old arrears received during the Fin Year, we bring in a happy
news for those veterans who missed out the Rebate in their last years return
(FY 2015-16). There were large amount of arrears (Around Rs 4 Lakhs) we received during the said Financial Year, and high rebates amounting to Rs 10000 to 60000/- accrued for veterans who took care to work with our "DO IT YOURSELF SOLUTIONS' giving you Primary School simple methods.
In case you did not claim the rebate and paid high
income tax for the Fin Year - 2015-16 on pension and arrears received, which actually pertained to earlier years when the tax rates were low and our earnings small, here is a chance for you to correct your mistake committed out of
ignorance of rules or lethargy. (CONTD)
You will be happy to know that under the provisions of Income Tax Act Sec 139(5) you can still file a revised return by 31st March 2018 for the Assessment Year 2016-17 and claim the rebate, provided you had filed the said return before 31 Aug 2016. We place on record our thanks to our friend who has provided the inputs for this web post for the benefit of our veterans.

RETIRED RECENTLY Based on our experience that we were clue less when we retired on various requirements wish we could check on them earlier. If you retired recently this post is for you, act seriously to avoid problems which may sting you after a decade or two. IF YOU HAVE RETIRED RECENTLY YOU CANNOT MISS THIS POST
TOOL TO CHECK WHETHER YOU HAVE BEEN RECEIVING CORRECT PENSION. We share our shocking experience with you that a large number of pensioners and family pensioners were not being paid correct pension in most cases these were much lesser than the entitlements. The agency banks did not pay much attention in paying the correct entitlements. I know a banker who told me that "Jis ko Jarurat hogi hamare pas bhaga aaega girgirata hua". They think we are beggers to beg for their services, WE MUST DEMAND rather than BEG from these Bank walas who are specially being paid by the G of I for handling pensions being outsourced to them.
We therefore advise you to carry out a check to see whether you got entitled pension till now, here are your simple guidelines. If you did not carry out a check in past you can ignore this at your own peril. ARE YOU SURE YOU GOT YOUR FULL DUES DURING 6 CPC – IGNORE THIS POST - certainly NO.
